What's YOUR story?

Every Thursday night from 7-8pm our local community radio, 3ABR presents the life and times of local folk in easy conversation with Bob Knowles.

This program gives us all an opportunity to hear the life stories of our friends and neighbours in their own words.

We discover where and how they grew up, what they thought and did over time and generally visit the major milestones of each and every individual road to the most southerly village on the Australian mainland – Apollo Bay.

Hooley Dooley! It’s the Ice Cream Man

He’s won hundreds of awards and tested the resolve of countless dieters, but where did Dooley come from? How did he get here? And what drives him to keep making amazing ice cream?

If you haven't previously attended, the format is to choose a table and order dinner which is served after the presentation.  Following dinner there is an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Apollo Bay Harbour Redevelopment

Council will embark on an innovative approach to realise the community's vision for the Apollo Bay Harbour's redevelopment.

Rather than creating a development plan for the harbour with no clarity of whether government and private enterprise will be willing to invest in the redevelopment, Council will invite the private sector to submit their response via an expression of interest process.

More information is in this media release.

Domestic Wastewater Management Plan

Council has ushered in one of the most significant planning policy reforms in its history with the adoption of a new Domestic Wastewater Management Plan for the shire.

Mayor Frank Buchanan has welcomed the plan's endorsement, saying it had the potential to unlock development in the shire's small towns and unsewered areas.

Support our Community Bankit starts with u 1b

The Apollo Bay and District Community Bank was set up for locals, by locals and with the support of local shareholders.  The SOLE PURPOSE of our Community Bank is to build the local economy and keep money in the local community where we need it the most.

The Community Bank offers exactly the same range of services and has the same guarantees as any other bank.  The difference is that 80% of our profits are retained for use in the Community.

YOU can help drive the local economy and support local infrastructure and community development through the simple act of shifting all or some of your banking to our Community Bank.  It's a drop in the ocean to the Big 4 but your money has real community power in the Community Bank.  We have the potential to be like Winchelsea, where the Community Bank is pouring literally hundreds of thousands of dollars into major local projects - but the only way we can do it is with your support.

Call in and see our local Bank Manager, Jenny Rippon, or line up a meeting with one of our Business Banking Consultants.

Our Community Bank® has contributed in excess of $130,000 in community contributions to date thanks to the support of our customers.

Support your Community Bank® to support your community.

This is a resource for the residents and visitors of Apollo Bay.  Please take some time to explore the site and send any updates to contact details, new Community Group listings, news items, What's On listings or other ideas or suggestions using the Contact Us link on the top menu.  We welcome your feedback.
